The Video Project was founded in 1983 by Oscar winning documentary filmmaker Vivienne VerdonRoe Women for America, For the World and Oscar nominee Ian Thiermann In the Nuclear Shadow. In 2000, the Video Project was acquired by Act Now Productions, a progressive media production company cofounded by former Sierra Club President, Adam Werbach. In 2007, The Video Project was acquired by San Mateobased media company Specialty Studios, helmed by Steve Michelson, a fixture of film production and distribution in Northern California for over 30 years, and a pioneer in DVD authoring and technology.Our mission at the Video Project is to provide the very best in educational media and documentary programming to schools, libraries, and educators worldwide.
