Award winning film maker and music video director Arab Strap, The Delgados, Grand Drive, Martin Smith was the winner of the BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Short Film with TRACKS a shocking and naturalistic portrayal of childrens cruelty in a powerful, raw and affecting film. He is developing a number of feature screenplays. FIRES with La Belle Allee and Scottish Screen is a drama about a boy who starts fires. THE BLACK DEATH with Sigma Films and Scottish Screen is a drama about two generations growing up in a Scottish seaside town, intertwining the harrowing events of a fishing trawler and its troubled crew. Another new feature screenplay SEAGULLS about a girl who takes revenge on a group of bullies is in progress. He also directed MY CITY: EDINBURGH four documentary slots for Channel 4 featuring Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson, the boxer Alex Arthur and the artist John Bellany. His two short films ACCIDENTS and TRACKS were commissioned by the UK Film Council, Scottish Screen, GMAC and DigiCult and have been selected by the British Council for international film festival distribution.
